How to make cheap Apple Wine at home
Hi everyone, i have to tell you that i am the absolute expert in making cheap wine. I live in England and the price of a bottle of cheap wine is extortionate over here, so if you live in a country like this you need to take careful note of what i am going to tell you.
You can read many articles that tell you that you need 'this and that' and all the general paraphanalia that wine-making stores tell you are essential for the job, but from years of experience, i know otherwise. Follow my simple guide and you will have success. Yes, if you are looking for perfection then you can buy all the recommended stuff, but for a simple successful home brewed wine, this is the way to do it.
The basic tools you will need are:
A Demijohn (or two! I have five myself!)
Campden tablets
Yeast (Preferably Super Wine Yeast)
Yeast nutrient
A bottle of bab-bottle steralising fluid
A cheap plastic funnel
An airlock and rubber bung
This lot should cost you less than 10 if you just get the one demijohn. This will be the best investment you have ever made!
Now for the ingredients, which are extremely basic and can be bought from any big supermarket.
For one gallon of Apple Wine you will need:
2 litres of white grape juice
2 litres of cheap apple juice
1 kilo of sugar
Total cost around 3.50 (usually less, shop around)
Now for the hard part (Only joking!)
First off all you sterilise the demijohn with the beby steriliser. Put a cap full in, fill it up, and wait an hour. Rinse it out with cold water and its ready.
You use the funnel to put the two litres of white grape juice into the demijohn
Fill the kettle up, boil it, and (using a container like a measuring jug) pour it on top of the sugar and stir with a fork until it is fully disolved.
Pour sugar into demijohn.. and add another half a litre of boiling water afterwards to raise the temperature a little
This is the time to give it a very good shake and let the sugar mix in with the grape juice
Then you get the Super wine yeast and put one teaspoon into the demijohn. put a little of the sterilised water into the airlocs, and leave it in a warm place for it to ferment. (If you have a starter yeast then follow the instructions on the packet.)
The next day it will have started bubbling. When it is very rigorously bubbling away, add the two litres of apple juice
Give it another good shake to make sure it is well mixed. Replace the airlock.
That is all the preparation finished. Leave it somwhere warm (but not too warm! The rules say around 25 degrees but it's not that important. The colder it is, the longer it takes. The best rule is if you are comfortable, then the wine is too.
Wait about 6 weeks, or until the wine has stopped bubbling, and it is ready to drink, but the longer you leave it the better it will be. Crush one Campden tablet and add it to the finished wine. In 24 hours it will be ready to bottle.
Use the plastic tube to siphon the liquid into some bottles. Being a cheapskate i use old lemonade bottles, but that is up to you. Just make sure that you are very careful with the siphoning and don't get too much of the lees from the bottom into the bottle. It is always better to forget about the last half-inch rather than get in into your drinking supply.
Taste it to assure yourself you have made a masterpiece, but no matter how good it tastes, always remember it will be much better after setting in the bottle for a few weeks, so try to be patient.
And that's it. You have a gallon of excellent wine for just 3.50. And you are an expert at making cheap homemade wine!
Now make another one after you have cleaned out the demijohn.

Low Alcohol Wines Over the last ten years or so wine has become more and more alcoholic. The fashion for strong wine, heavy on the alcohol came into fashion during the 1980s and seems to have stuck with us ever since. However as wines get stronger people are starting to worry more about the quantity of alcohol they are ingesting and are starting to look for wines with a lower alcohol content. After all there are now wines with 15% alcohol, this is mainly the case with wines from the New World where the hot sun ripens the grapes so intensely that the finished product packs a pretty hefty punch. There are however some wines that are traditionally low in alcohol and others are now being filtered to make them more that way.
So which wines should you look out for if you are trying to cut down on your alcohol intake?
Good wines to look out for are ones that havent been stored for a long time. Generally the longer they are stored the higher the alcohol content. Also it is best to stay away from New World wines. Most of these are produced in countries where there is a lot of sun and therefore the grapes ripen extra well meaning that they contain a high sugar content which turns into alcohol.
White wines with a low alcohol content are wines such as Portuguese Vinho Verde. This light wine is slightly sparkling because of its youth but is an excellent choice with fish dishes and salads. It is so light that you can hardly believe that you are drinking wine and is usually around 10% alcohol making it lower than most wines but not without its charms
German winemakers have a long tradition of off-dry styles with a tradition of lower alcohol content, look out for wines from the Mosel region with names such as Spatlese and Auslese. These wines tend to be on the sweet side but have alcohol contents of around 10%. More recently there have been low alcohol wines produced in Australia using the Riesling grape which are also becoming more popular with people around the world.
Another way to enjoy low alcohol wines is to drink rose. This is also mainly low alcohol in its production and tends to come out about 10 or 11% on average. Rose is a great summer drink and works well with barbecues and picnics you can also make its alcohol content lighter still by mixing it with sparkling water to make a really cool drink on a hot day.
So when it comes to drinking wine there is no reason to believe that you have to consume immense amounts of alcohol in order to enjoy your drink. Choose a wine with a lighter amount of alcohol and be surprised by the taste!

The Home Made CNC Machine
Like I keep telling, it's Google, "cnc at home" searchwords, and choose from a list of thousands!
Illustration 36A guy named V. Chan, at pathcom.com, created this drill-mill conversion
Software's not a problem, you can find free software, cheap software, expensive software, you can even learn how to make your own CNC controlling software, what have you!
You can use your present PC to control it, use an old 386, buy the CNC, Computer, and all, but by now you're just wondering:
"Yeah, right, but WHY DO I NEED A CNC MACHINE?"
Well, in theory, if you have one of those, you will never have to build a Prototype, just "draw" the pieces in some 3D program, have the CNC mill them out of metal blocks, or other material, and assemble the Prototype like as much as some IKEA furniture!
In my Prototype building experience, tough, NOTHING is that simple, something always needs some extra work, but hey, Industrial Precision pieces, just as you imagined them, now that's something not to snare at!
Illustration 37 This guy, Tom Gootee, at fullnet.com, built a CNC machine from an Epson printer!
So go have some fun, be it building, buying it all ready to mill, converting it from a drill press, Google it, choose what's right for you, could not be the one that suits your neighbor, the CNC world's yours!
HEY! IT GETS BETTER!
Now there'sFab@home.org, and all your problem's over!
These guys are into Fabricating, or CNC home manufacturing, or buildin' your 3D stuff with a home made Robot.
And not only that, they help you MAKE YOUR OWN CNC MACHINE with only a fraction of the money you spend on Pro CNCs, but with a even more flexible machine! And you can even save more money, if you've got some old Printer around.
If you're thinking you cannot do it, think again, 'cos they teach every darn step, even WIRE CUTTING the right way, so there's no excuse not to try!
Now that's good news or what?
RepRap, another fabber
Here's another Fabber, RepRap, notice the different steel rod approach, comes also with Software support, same as Fab@home...
Max's, much more than a Little Robot shop
Max's Little Robot shop, the title says...
But that's not true: It's a HUGE help for lots of projects you may have.
I'm just reading the tabs at the left of his page, Robots, Mechanical Fabbing, Injection Molding, the guy's made a machine for it,
AND a download area!
There you'll find lots of CAD files, don't you just love the kewl CAD appearance...
Plus a Digital Electronics section that you have to see.
Be sure to give this Site a Look, you will learn a lot.

How Do I Remove a Pimple Mark From My Face?
Many people who have pimples are left with marks or holes in their skin after the pimple is gone and are looking for solutions to remove a pimple mark. These pimple marks are caused by acne scarring.
There are a number of ways to remove scars caused by acne. Acne usually starts at puberty when your body is most actively producing hormones that creates excess seburn in your skin. This stage can pass, but it is not uncommon for marks to cosmetically affect your appearance.
There are multiple ways to treat scars, including natural remedies, over the counter products, products you can obtain through your doctor as well as dermabrasion, chemical peels or laser techniques. Cost is obviously a consideration as well as how deep the scars are.
Some of the things you can do that will help naturally repair scars are to drink plenty of water, eat a balanced diet, apply vitamin E oil or take a vitamin E supplement orally. Rosehip seed oil can be an effective remedy, not only for scars, but for removing wrinkes. It can be applied twice a day. Rose water mixed with sandal wood can also be applied overnight.
If you don't want an acne scar home remedy or over the counter acne product, there are also medical procedures that usually offer faster results.
Dermabrasion can be done by your dermatologist and is also offered in many beauty salons today. This may offer faster results than the natural remedies, but it can leave your skin very irritated, may take multiple applications and may not work if your scars are very deep.
Chemical peels are another alternative that can be offered by either a dermatologist or a salon. Peels use chemicals to peel layers off of the skin. Keep in mind that some people experience allergic reactions to chemical facial peels.
For deep acne scarring, many people are looking to laser treatments to resurface the skin. This treatment uses a beam of light to destroy unwanted scar tissue and is performed by a doctor. The cost of this treatment depends on whether you are treating a few scars or your whole face. A whole face treatment can cost a few thousand dollars.
One thing to remember with dermabrasion, facial peels using chemicals and laser acne treatments, is that these techniques are much more invasive and can cause pain and irritation. Some laser treatments may require anesthesia, if the scarring is very deep. You can also expect to take a week to ten days off of work for this procedure.
There are many ways to remove pimple marks caused by acne scarring, but the method you choose will depend on a number of factors including the severity of your pimple mark and how much you are willing to pay.

Bad Business Decisions and Famous Quotes
Here are a few bad decisions from the world of business that have become famous -- and are downright humorous in hindsight. Some people learned from their mistakes and moved on (Bill Gates.) Some, sadly, faded into history (Decca).
"640K ought to be enough for anybody." -- Bill Gates, 1981
"Drill for oil? You mean drill into the ground to try to find oil? You're crazy." -- Drillers who Edwin L. Drake tried to enlist to his project to drill for oil in 1859
"But what ... is it good for?" -- Engineer at the Advanced Computing Systems Division of IBM, 1968, commenting on the microchip.
"There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home." --Ken Olson, president, chairman and founder of Digital Equipment Corp., 1977
"The wireless music box has no imaginable commercial value. Who would pay for a message sent to nobody in particular?" --David Sarnoff's associates in response to his urgings for investment in the radio in the 1920s. I hope he fired all of them.
"The concept is interesting and well-formed, but in order to earn better than a 'C,' the idea must be feasible." -- A Yale University management professor in response to Fred Smith's paper proposing reliable overnight delivery service. (Smith went on to found Federal Express Corp.[FedEx])
"Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible." -- Lord Kelvin, president, Royal Society, 1895.
"Airplanes are interesting toys but of no military value." -- Marechal Ferdinand Foch, Professor of Strategy, Ecole Superieure de Guerre. Wasn't France bombed in World War Two?
"I'm just glad it will be Clark Gable falling on his face and not Gary Cooper" -- Gary Cooper on his decision not to take the leading role in "Gone With the Wind"
And my three favorites:
"We don't like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out." --Decca Recording Co. rejecting the Beatles, 1962. Pwned!
"This 'telephone' has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us." -- Western-Union internal memo, 1876. Alexander Bell offered the patent for the Telephone to Western-Union in 1876 for 0,000. They declined. The telephone patent has been estimated as the most valuable patent of all time. Bell's Company, AT&T, later aquired Western-Union. Special Note -- In 1971 AT&T turned down an offer to own the Internet. Oh well.
"So we went to Atari and said, "Hey we've got this amazing thing, even built with some of your parts, what do you think about funding us? Or we'll give it to you. We just want to do it. Pay our salary, we'll come work for you." And they said, "No". So then we went to Hewlett Packard and they said, "Hey, we don't need you; you haven't even got through college yet." -- Apple Computer Co-Founder Steve Jobs on attempts to get Atari and HP interested in he and Steve Wozniak's personal computer. HP recovered nicely (though not quite as nicely, I suspect as they would have if they'd chanced it) but where is Atari today.
Special Mention -- Couldn't find a quote for these two, but...
In 1933 Coca-Cola declined an opportunity to buy it's then-bankrupt and insignificant rival Pepsi - Cola
In 1999, Excite declined the opportunity to buy Google for million. It's possible that ANY quote on this from Excite would be -- a-hum -- unprintable.
