I am brewing my own soda. How can I bottle it and make it carbonated without having it ferment?
I am planning on brewing and bottling (for gifts) my own soda. I want to experiment with different juices, etc. I have found plenty of recipes calling for yeast to add carbonation. Will the yeast ferment the beverage? I don’t want this.

    …brewing?
My boyfriend has gotten into brewing beer and other things. right now he is doing mead. any tips for us? especially for the mead, as it is our first time and we REALLY don’t want to mess it up!

The best thing you can do is go to your local home brewer store. They can set you up for <$150, and it’ll be quality equipment.

Patience, above all things…especially with mead. Honey makes any fermentation take much longer.
    General rules of thumb:
Sanitation is key…keep everything you work with and touch sanitized.
If you’re not sure of how much yeast to use, always opt for too much and not too little.
Be sure to measure your specific gravity before you pitch the yeast so you’ll be able to find out how much alcohol is in your brew when it’s done…not to mention, this will tell you whether or not it’s done.

Once again, just don’t forget patience. A good mead will take at least six moths to turn out well, and longer will be even better.

There will be a tiny amount of alcohol created in the yeast fermentation, but it is something like .25%-.50%, which is in the range of “nonalcoholic” beers. It’d be about the same about of alcohol present in bread just before you bake it.

Go ahead and use yeast to carbonate but I would recommend you use plastic bottles as the soda can generate high levels of carbonation that can make bombs out of glass bottles.

Your other option would be to buy a CO2 rig ($$$) and pressurize to something like 30psi at 40F.

What is the best home brewing kit to buy?
I have NO experience brewing beer at home. I have friends who brewed beer in college and they used a Mr. Beer kit, I DO NOT want that one. I know that cleanliness is key, but I want to know what’s the best kit out there and will the kit come with everything I need or will I have to get extra stuff?

All help, hints or suggestions are appreciated.

    Cheers and Thanks!
